The holiday season is always a time for redemption. Many of us take stock of our personal shortcomings and have hope for receiving forgiveness and a renewed chance to do better. This is certainly admirable, but I think a far greater goal might be to turn that redemption outward, to forgive those whose shortcomings have seemed too much to bear, and to focus on the redeeming qualities that can be found in others. Whatever redemption you can grant to others will be paid to you in spades.
