Hi, my name is Ed Thompson. I’ve been a private tutor for twenty-five years, working with students from three to seventy-three years old, and in subjects from beginning reading all the way to MBA classes and postgraduate biology, including nearly every subject in between. My students ranged from severely challenged to gifted and advanced.
Being a private tutor has given me a unique perspective on education. By working with students from public schools, private schools and homeschool, I have seen a wide variety of educational systems. I have also had to work with many different textbooks, teachers and curricula. All of that has led to insights on what’s broken about our educational system and how we can make it better.
Over the years I have come to the conclusion that we do not have an educational system where students are invited to think for themselves, to discuss ideas and delve into knowledge. What was once a noble idea to ensure every citizen had a basic education has been turned into an indoctrination system, full of propaganda and ideology.
In my Basic Ed podcast I address big pharma’s role in education, mental health of our children, the dumbing of America, the attack on families and freedom, censorship in academia, lost knowledge and many important educational topics.
I’m also the author of a twelve-volume mystery thriller series, a political thriller, a science fiction novel, short stories and poetry under the name Jack Thompson, and children’s stories and fables under the name Fun London.
